So Zymic has been relaunched to a completed version 6. I think its pretty cool and I must admit the free hosting does look good.

What do people think?

Delete that. Do NOT bump a post. That is absoloutely gay. Delete this post as well.

But yeh, the site. I think it makes them look primarily like a hosting company site (unless they are now?) and draws attention away from the tutorials and resources completely.

That's amazing, although it's gone too corporate for my liking. I really don't like the MozillaFirefox.us link at the bottom either...

I only did that because otherwise it would not show up in Latest Forum Activity and no-one would ever see the thread.

That free hosting looks a little too good to be true imho. I may check it out though, I'm a bit curios.

Also, that digg button on the free hosting page looks like hell.

Zymichost.com redirects to http://www.zymic.com/free-web-hosting/? LAZYYYY.

Thought what Tub said, must be true.

Hmm.. $280 for 100,000 unique hits (ads)? That's alright eh?

I forgot all about Zymic actually.

It looks very professional from what I last seen of it.

that really is quite bad. when i clicked on the link, i thought some sort of spam web hosting site popped out accidently, but it didnt. looks way to generic imo, and tubby's right, they've drawn all the attention away from their real stuff (templates etc)

they are simply trying to monetize their site. hosting = frequent visitors = constant flow of ad clicks.

it looks to me like theyre modeling it on sitepoint (and not just the colour scheme).

i expect to see new things from zymic in the near future.

I think Zymic really concentrated on content this time around, and not design. Obviously they're offering some pretty unbelievable (quite literally...) things, but Tubby was absolutely, 100% correct in saying that their new design really takes away from the content that was once primary to it.

I just liked their old version better.
Also, if they want to appeal to a "more professional audience," then why the hell do they have some of the world's ugliest and poorly coded web templates, straight out of 1998, up for download?! Same goes for most of their tutorials. Content is king when it comes to a web site. And I have to say, Zymic's content is quite lacking. Sure, it has some pretty nice features - free hosting is always a good thing - but the site looks like someone just ate and threw up a copy of SitePoint... And as it's been said before, it looks like a web hosting company.

So I give it a 4/10.

I found that when relaunching this site I wasn't hesitant at all to delete all the tutorials from 2003. I'd much rather a site with 5 great tutorials than 120 shit ones.
